Dear Paranormal Enthusiasts and Friends of The Grove!
Okay, I have a personal indulgence to ask of you, and I appreciate you giving me a second. I’ve been very
careful about not using The Grove website or ezine, or ghost-blog.com, to do any high-pressure
selling or anything like that. While I try to mention a new book
of mine whenever it’s coming out, or recommend books or places that I've enjoyed, I want to keep this forum as a place for sharing supernatural experiences and information.
I have to mention something that’s for a very good cause, though
– I’m a member of the Jefferson Lions Club, and the East Texas
Lions District has put out a cookbook for sale with recipes from
the kitchens of folks all over East Texas. 100% of the sale of
this cookbook goes directly to the Lions Clubs, and it’s one
heck of a great cause – and one of the best cookbooks that
you’ll find. We’ve been selling them all over the area, but the
Jefferson Club has a little under 20 more books on hand that we are supposed to sell.
If you love to cook, love to eat, collect regional
cookbooks, or would simply like to have some of the best dang
recipes that you’re going to find anywhere, then please read on...
Hey, this isn’t a fancy, Hollywood celebrity cookbook. It’s not a high-gloss, trendy, New York Times bestseller. In fact, I doubt you’ve heard of any contributors to the book...
What you are going to find in this cookbook, though, is a collection of down-home, mouth-watering, finger-licking, East Texas delights – dishes like your Grandmother used to make, and secret family recipes that have been handed down for generations. All were donated by families in East Texas, and they are so proud of the recipes that their name appears right there with it.
Tami and I have been using the Lions Club Cookbook for over a month now, and some of my personal favorites that I've discovered are:
- Seven Layer Salad
- Southern Pecan Praline Cake
- Tater Tot Casserole
- Monkey Bread
- Trout Amandine
- Nutty Cracker Delights
- Pina Colada Cake
- Pull-Apart Vegetable Bread
- Texas Pork Chops
- ...and Double Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

Tater Tot Casserole?!?
Yep! I mean, c'mon, who wouldn't love Tater Tot Casserole? There's over 300 different recipes to try, though, so I know that you will soon be making a list of your personal favorites. You’ll even find some recipes that Tami and I donated – some of our specialties direct from our kitchen. You’ll find half a dozen of our signature dishes straight from The Grove:
- Breakfast Pizza – we make it almost every time we have overnight company. It's always a huge hit.
- Scottish Eggs – my favorite food to munch on during a NASCAR race. Tami thinks that they’re evil, but what can I say, I love’em.
- Jalapeno Poppers – the talk of any party... make them as hot as you like... or dare!
- Cajun Shepherd’s Pie – you won’t believe how delicious this entrée is. It's a personal favorite on our own dinner table.
- Bourbon Chicken Wings – flavorful wings that your guests will devour – our hands-down, absolute favorite wing recipe. People will beg you to bring these to the next party.
- Millionaire Pie – so rich, you’ll feel like Donald Trump when you eat it. No baking; just mix, chill, and devour!
But most of all...
...this cookbook is for a very worthwhile cause. It’s the first district-wide cookbook published by the East Texas Lions Clubs of District 2-X2, and 100% of every penny – and I do mean every single penny – goes to the Lions Clubs of District 2-X2. Want to see the kinds of things that the Lions do? Just visit the Jefferson Lions Club website: www.jeffersonlionsclub.org
And here are the details:
The cookbook costs $15.00, and like I said, every copper-clad cent of that goes to the Lions Clubs. Every bit. I’ll even pay the postage personally – just my contribution to the cause (that, and the fact that everyone I know is getting one for Christmas). Believe me, this simple East Texas cookbook is full of recipes that are going to make you the hit of the kitchen.
It is 150+ pages, and there are well over three hundred recipes that range from appetizers (such as "Roasted Red Pepper Dip") to desserts (like "Mother's Buttermilk Pie"), and everything in between. We’ve had our copy for about a month now, and we’ve already made a variety of new dishes – we look forward to dinner every night. The cookbook is even printed horizontally, so that you can stand it up on the counter like a flip-chart as you cook.
The Lions in East Texas have been selling these books all over the area, and the Jefferson Club only has 20 books left. If you’d be kind enough to help us out by purchasing one of those, we’d sincerely appreciate it.
Is your mouth watering yet?

Now go preheat the oven, and get ready for some incredible culinary delights!
